Liebster Award | Blogging Tag (YOU Get To Answer My Questions!!!)

I'm going to participate in the Liebster Blog Tag today! So if you wanna get to know me better, be sure to keep reading! =)

  • Thank the blog that nominated you for the award. (I've been nominated several times, so thank you, A. Kaylee's Kind of Writes, Edna @ Bleeding Ink, Mary Grace @ Hopes and Joys, Anita @ Anita Seavy, and Eliana @ Eliana the Writer!)
  • Answer the questions they gave you. (I'll be answering all of the questions individually below!)
  • Give 11 fun facts about yourself. (These are at the end of the post!)
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers for the award, and give them 11 questions to answer. (Instead of doing this, I am going to nominate everyone who reads my blog! Comment below with your answers to the questions I will ask at the end of this post!)

A. Kaylee's Questions for Me!

1. What is your biggest hope?

My biggest hope is Jesus Christ. I have hope in Him alone. He is my hope and salvation, and I trust Him as my ONLY way to heaven. I am really looking forward to meeting Him face-to-face one day!

2. Have you ever wanted to live in another era? (If so what era?)
I love the pioneer days!! I love the dresses the women wore, and I love how simply they lived.

3. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I love blogging because I can post something new each week. People can follow my blog and comment on my posts. I love making connections with my readers and having a place online to which I can direct people.

4. Where is your dream home? (City or Country?)
I think I would like the country better.

5. Do you prefer summer or winter?
I really like summer minus bugs, bees, and humidity. So I would probably prefer winter. :)

6. Snakes or spiders: Which do you least prefer?
Snakes, but I'd definitely prefer neither if I could choose that!

7. Do you like being tagged for blog tags?
I do, but I have a hard time fitting them into my blog schedule, so I'm glad I can fit it in this week!

8. What is your favorite thing to do?
I really enjoy writing and blogging at home. I also love hanging out with friends when I can.

9. Do you use an Oxford comma or not?
YES YES YES (I will not rant on this, I promise! XD) I'll just say that it kind of annoys me when people don't use it. (I mean, don't they teach it in grammar books?? *is confused*)

10. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
I love going to church Christmas Eve and having a beautiful candlelight service. Then, when we get home, we get to open one Christmas gift, then open the rest on Christmas morning.

11. What is the most bizarre thing you have done?
Umm...I'm not sure, actually. I'm more of a cautious person, so I don't do daring things very often, so I'm afraid I don't have an answer for this question. XD

Edna's Questions for Me!

1. If you could live in any fictional world, which would you choose?
I would probably choose Narnia, for two reasons: 1) I love the world and the characters, and 2) well, it's the only fantasy world I really know. XD

2. What book (fictional or not) has inspired you most?
The book that has inspired me the most is Do Hard Things, by Alex and Brett Harris. This book has impacted my life so much. I need to read it again, actually.

3. What is the most beautiful thing you've seen?
The most beautiful thing I've seen would probably be a rainbow in the sky. Rainbows are SO beautiful, especially if you can see the entire rainbow!

4. What are three of your favorite words and why?
Oh goodness...I've never thought about this! I have no idea where to even begin!!

5. What are three of your biggest pet-peeves?
1) When people don't use the Orthodox comma, 2) when people don't use "I" and "me" correctly, and 3) when people don't have correct grammar in general (especially in writing). In case you haven't noticed, I'm a grammar nerd. XD I actually have a mug that says, "I'm silently correcting your grammar," because it fits me so well! ;)

6. What is your favorite kind of cookie?
Butterscotchies, for sure!! They're butterscotch and oatmeal cookies. The BEST!!

7. Which would you rather be, a mermaid or a fairy?
I guess I would rather be a fairy.

8. What is the best adventure you've had?
Let's just say I'm a pretty cautious person, so I haven't had too many adventures. I can't think of anything right now that would be worth sharing...

9. If you could control any one element, which one would you choose?
Oh goodness! I have no clue!! (You ask too many hard questions! XD)

10. Do you prefer (for writing or reading) fantasy or science fiction?
I prefer reading fantasy (without magic). I don't think I've read any science fiction, but I don't believe I'd like it. I enjoy The Green Ember series, by S.D. Smith.

11. With only one sentence, how would you describe how you feel towards writing?
I love writing because I can impact people.

Mary Grace's Questions for Me!

1. What's your favorite flower?
I really love peonies! They're so full and lovely!

2. Have you ever written a novel (or are in the process of writing one)?

Yes! Both, actually! I have written two novels (A Candle in the Window and In His Hands), and I am currently outlining my third novel, which is currently untitled.

3. If you could time travel, when would you go?
I would go to the pioneer days. Not sure what date exactly, but if I could, I would travel back in time to the 1800s and meet my characters from A Candle in the Window--Katie and Ben, Eric and Megan, and Mama, and everyone! I just wanna hug them all because I love them so much!!

4. What personality trait has gotten you into the worst trouble?
This is a hard question, but I'd probably say impatience.

5. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
"Don't be afraid to do hard things." That's not a direct quote, but that's the main idea. I've learned so much from my neighbor's VBS and from the book Do Hard Things. (1 Timothy 4:12)

6. If you had to pick a new name for yourself, what would it be?
Hmm...this is so hard!! I really like the names Sara and Rosalie. Basically anything elegant, I guess.

7. Do you feel like a leader or a follower?
A leader, for sure. I love leading and being involved. Of course, if I'm not confident or have no idea what I'm doing, I don't mind following. But yeah, when I can, I love to be the leader.

8. Which movie sequel do you wish you could erase from history?
To be honest, I don't watch too many movies with sequels, so I'm not sure how to answer this one!

9. What's your favorite book?
My favorite book? Well, since I've already mentioned Do Hard Things several times in this post, I'd probably say Miracle for Jen, by Linda Barrick. I actually wrote an article about Jen and her incredible story, which was published on Jen Barrick: Extraordinary Teen, Extraordinary God.

10. What fictional character do you wish you could meet?
I'm going to say the characters from my own books! Mainly the characters from A Candle in the Window, as I mentioned above.

11. If your life was a move [I'm pretty sure she meant "movie"], what songs would be on the soundtrack?
I would want worship songs that praise and glorify my Savior, Jesus Christ. I also really enjoy classical music like Pachelbel's Canon in D, Chopin's Nocturne in E Flat Major (Op. 9 No. 2).

Anita's Questions for Me!

1. What is the first book that truly inspired you in your walk with the Lord?
Ugh, such a hard question because I don't remember!! The Bible, for sure, though.

2. What is the longest Bible passage you have ever memorized?
I think the longest Bible passage I had memorized was all of Exodus 2.

3. Who are three bloggers that you admire?
It's hard to say, because I don't read too many blogs. However, I really enjoy Abbiee's blog, Bella Putt's blog, and my friend Alyssa Farrell's blog.

4. What is one of your biggest dreams?
A few months ago, if you would have asked me this question, I would have promptly answered, "I want to become a published author." While that is still one of my dreams, my goals and focuses have shifted, so I'm not obsessed with getting published anymore. Of course, I'm still working toward publication in differing ways. But honestly, I would love to go to the Logos Theatre in South Carolina. For the past six years, I have participated in Drama Camp that the Academy of Arts has put out. They send a team to our group every year, and OH MY GOODNESS IT'S THE BEST! I love performing. I've been on the stage since I was three, so while I hated it back then, I adore it now!

5. Are you a coffee lover? If so, what is your favorite coffee shop? If not, what is your favorite drink?
Nope. Sorry. I can't stand coffee. Maybe that will change when I get older. XD I really like fruit smoothies and ice cream-like shakes!

Eliana's Questions for Me!

1. What are your top two favorite book characters?
Ooh, tough question! I guess I'll say Jo March from Little Women and Heather from The Green Ember series.

2. What is the yummiest candy in your opinion?
I love Smarties!!

3. Have you looked at clouds much? What is your type (e.g. nimbocumuli)?
Clouds are so pretty! I haven't identified the types, though. Looking at pictures, I really like cumulus clouds.

4. Do you wear hats much? Why or why not? And what kind of hat?
I don't wear hats often. I don't really care for sun hats, usually.Sometimes I wear baseball caps, but other than that, I don't usually wear hats.

5. Is your head in the clouds a lot or are you sensitive to the real world around you?
I'm a writer, of course, so sometimes I daydream and think about my story. But when I'm not doing that, I'm sensitive to the real world around me.

6. How do you get photos for your blog (if you do)?
I use Unsplash and Pixabay for images (Pexels is also an option) and Canva for creating my graphics. I love these free resources!

7. What is your favorite bird?
I love cardinals!

8. What is your favorite number?
I remember that when I was little, my favorite number was 4, and I remember that I would always say that it's NOT because my little sister is four! XD Now, though, I don't really think about it, so I don't have a favorite. I do like numbers counted by fives, though.

9. What did you want to be "when you grow up" when you were younger?
A writer and author was probably my biggest one. A few years ago, it was a nurse practitioner, but I've dropped that idea and gone to something else. We'll see where God actually places me!

10. What do you want to be "when you grow up" now?
I want to go to college for Spanish Education and become a Spanish teacher.

11. Favorite school subject?
Languages. I used to take Latin (but had to drop it to switch my focus to Spanish), and this next school year I'll be taking Advanced Spanish for highschoolers.

  8. Favorite animal?
  9. Favorite color?
  10. Favorite sport?
  11. Do you like grammar?

I can't wait to see your answers in the comments! I will read each one and respond to all of them!

  1. Ahh, I love tags so much!! So many tags, so little time. XP ALSO the whole I or me thing... "Is it I" or "is it me"?? One of my best friends and I are still way too confused about that! Anyhow...
    1. Hmm, that's hard. Both?
    2. Land mammals. Any animal that lives in water creeps me out to some extent!
    3. Yes and yes!! Https://
    4. Well...I am the crazy adventurous type. And I'm the one to do something crazy on a dare, not kidding. The first thing I thought of was, I roller-bladed inside a small dorm FULL of girls just to prove I knew how. (Tell me I can't do something and I'll go out of my way to do it.)
    5. I love Kisses from Katie, Daring to Hope, and Lone Survivor (censored ;)).
    6. I haven't read Narnia... I just don't like fantasy like at all. Watching Mary Poppins with my little brothers is about it.
    7. On the computer. My mind works way faster than my hand!
    8. Horses or dogs...probably dogs since I've never had my own horse, even though I love to ride.
    9. Purple all the way!!!
    10. Soccer!! I enjoy watching others play baseball and football, but I'm only good at soccer.
    11. Yes, and I can't stand writing accents into every line my characters say, but to hear me talk, my Southern-meets-a-Midwestern-influence accent doesn't say much about loving grammar. XD
    Wow! That was fun!!
(BTW, I'm at 6k in Camp Nano...can't wait to see what it'll be at the end of the month!!)

    1. Hey Kassie!
LOL I hope you haven't gotten hurt with all of that craziness...?!
Ikr! "I" and "me" can be confusing sometimes. "I" is the subject and "me" is the object, to put it simply. ;P

I loved reading your replies to my questions! It's always fun to hear from my readers <3

YAY! Congrats, Kassie! You're doing a wonderful job!! Do you have a synopsis/blurb to your WIP? Or is that classified right now? ;)

    2. Well, I won’t say it never got me hurt... X’D
No, it’s not classified, but it only consists of a one-line synopsis and two quotes from the story so far! I’m not very good at writing synopses, and I’m kinda waiting till it’s finished and others have beta-read it to play around and get other’s advice. ;) What I have so far is:
“Two broken soldiers, a fallen brother, a teenage daughter...broken dreams, secrets, a search for answers...and a three-legged dog.”
      And these two quotes:
“It never surprised me that cops don’t cry in front of their little girls, because I will always think Daddy is the bravest person on earth, so of course he wouldn’t cry.”
“You will run again and you will jump again, and you will not let Andrew get in the way of that.”

    3. That sounds like an amazing story! Keep me updated on it! <3

  2. Spanish teacher, huh? I didn’t know that!

    1. Hehe, yep! I love Spanish! I took Latin for 5-6 years before stopping that. I still want to finish it, but I don't have time right now. I'll be taking Advanced Spanish (Spanish 3-4) this year.

    2. Wow! I just spent the last year learning Latin, and it was tough! I think I prefer English classes. XD I know un poco espanol, but I heard that I’m getting Spanish tutoring with my brother this year.

    3. Latin is difficult. It's so specific!! But it helped me a lot with Spanish.

See, I would be excited about getting Spanish tutoring. XD

  3. I loved reading this, Julia! :D

  4. I had fun reading this, Julia! I prefer country living too. (: I just got the Chrinicles of Narnia and I can’t wait to read it. Also, grammar nerds unite! They make the best freditors. xD

    1. Yay! Definitely read Narnia! Easy reading, but still lots of fun.
YES GRAMMAR NERDS UNITE!! I know, right? XD
      Thanks for reading, Fe! :D

  5. This was super fun to read! I enjoyed getting to know you better! The classical pieces caught my eye: I loveeeeeeeeeee both of those pieces! I'm actually learning the Chopin piece right now!

    Hanne ||

    1. Hey Hanne! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I love music!! Those pieces are BEAUTIFUL! Wow, that's awesome!!
