My Writing Journey | March 2019 + Accountability for YOU!

by - March 29, 2019

Hey friends! Welcome back!

If you've been following me on my old blog, you know that at the end of every month, I make a post about what I accomplished in my writing journey that month and what I hope to accomplish next month.

I am going to continue that in this blog!

But this time, as I mentioned in the last post, YOU get to be involved! At the end of every post, in the comments, write what you got accomplished this month, the goals you completed, and what you hope to get accomplished next month! This will help you stay accountable and finish your goals!

Sound like fun? Let's get started!!

Accepted or Rejected?

I did eight interviews with eight different bloggers about the Julia Nelson blog launch last week. Those were really fun! (If you missed them, click here!)

Other than that, I haven't been published anywhere this month, but I have an article that I'll be submitting to The Rebelution soon.

Novel Update!

This month, I did a little editing on my novel, but I've been busy working on my short story, Healed by the Storm.

So here's an update on that.

Healed by the Storm is currently about 11,000 words longa little longer than I anticipated, but that's fine. For the past couple weeks, I've been editing this story. Now, I'm working on polishing it, and soon I plan to open for beta readers in my writing community.

Honestly, I was nervous about this story. The first draft was awful, but after adding two and a half scenes or so, I like the story a LOT more!

What I'm Working On Now

I usually have several projects going on at once, but the past couple months have been kind of crazy because I took 9 weeks of writing lessons. They were really good for me, and I can't wait to use what I learned to craft another short story in the future!

In fiction, as I said before, I'm working on Healed by the Storm. I also went back and started editing another short story I wrote: The Story of Christmas. This is something I want to give to family members for Christmas. Alphas already went through it, and now I need to edit, edit, edit!

When I find time, I will read through and edit A Candle in the Windowmy novel.

In non-fiction, I am working on a couple articles. As I mentioned before, I have an article that I plan to submit to TheReb soon. I have a draft of another article, as well. For another website, I have an idea that I plan to email the editor about. We'll see what happens with that!

Well, that's what I accomplished this month! As for goals, I want to submit this article to TheReb, continue editing Healed by the Storm, and start editing The Story of Christmas if I have time.

what about you?

What did you ACCOMPLISH this month? What are your GOALS for next month? Tell me about them below!!

  1. Yay!! Let’s see...I broke 13.5k words in my WIP, which isn’t as much as I wanted, but it’s still progress; wrote a haiku for HSLDA’s contest with the help of a Japanese friend; scheduled all but three of my blog posts for this coming month; beta-read a friend’s novel; and finished her reading challenge!!
We have a LOT going on this coming month, so I’m not going to be writing nearly as much, but I’m hopeful to break 15k in Tattered Wings, edit a short story, and finish an article for TheReb that’s taking me way too long to write. XD

    1. Wow, nice, Kassie! You accomplished a lot!! That's awesome!
Great goals! I hope to see your article on TheReb!! :D

  2. I loved reading your writing update!

This month, I've worked on brainstorming for the next draft of my novel.

    1. Aw, thanks, Bella!
Great job!! Keep going, girl! You got this! I've been doing a little brainstorming myself for my third novel that I hope to start outlining within the next couple months. I might write (at least start writing) this novel for NaNoWriMo this year. I'd really like to do NaNoWriMo this year. :D

  3. Great job, Julia!

In March, I put up 2 blog posts. My goal now is to post once a week. And submit an article to the Reb. Consistency, here I come!

    1. Thank you, Fe! Awesome job! That's great!!
Those are really good goals! You can do it!!! :D

  4. Wow, that's amazing Julia!
I think I finally hit 30,000 words on my WIP in March (not all in that month), and wrote four blog posts. Hopefully, I'll be able to reach 50,000 words this month, and write at least one post a week this month, as well as get some good art made. I also nominated you for the Really Neat Blog Award on my blog, so if you'd like to participate, here's the link
I love the monthly update idea... I might start doing that too....
